Romantic Casa San Julian
Casas del Naval is a group of houses, each on its own independent property but close enough to eachother that one can walk comfortably from one house to the other.
The houses have been decorated with care, to be lived in, revealing the owner's fondness for comfortable and cosy spaces, antiques, and beautiful objects. The tableware and china of each house, the glassware, and cutlery are all part of the singularity of each space; we like objects with charisma. Each house has its own grounds with a garden and a pool/tank. Summers are dry and hot, soothed by the shades of the pergolas and trees, and the sound of water between the flowers, the bushes and the herbs in the garden. Even by night, the exterior calls, one is summoned and invited to contemplate the clean skies, bursting with stars.
The ample and comfortable 3-bedroom Casa Las Encinas has its entrance on the top floor, as it has two storeys which make use of the slope in the terrain. On this top floor you have two wings, one with one bedroom, the other with two bedrooms. This first floor has a living room with a sofa bed. There is a main bedroom with a double-bed (160cm), a dressing room and its own bathroom. The other two bedrooms share a bathroom, and one of them has a double- lofted-bunk-bed. You can access the bottom floor through a glass-roofed staircase to a spacious living room with a freestanding fireplace, the dining room, the kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The whole house is surrounded by panoramic spots. Eleagnus and Viburnum stand out amongst the aromatic shrubs. Above, at the main entrance, there is a garden with flowers. Looking towards the south, there are tables under a great pergola. Looking north, there are other tables with a long bench under the shade of an Ash tree to enjoy the fresh air. In front of the west façade, looking on the main living area and dining hall, is an infinity saltwater tank, with granite borders. It measures 10 metres long and 2 metres wide, with a sunbathing area around it.
Casa San Julián
San Julian is a 2-bedroom house with cosy proportions, very comfortable, manageable and created to human scale. An authentic ¨toy-house¨ in the middle of a rose garden. Over the years and many travels, we have gathered a selection of furniture, fabrics, and antique objects-all with a lot of charm-that decorate the house with a lot of care. The main living area is covered with a chestnut tree ceiling. The other walls and ceilings of the house are of black plaster. The floor is of traditional clay from a local pottery. The entrance hallway can be both used as a workspace or as a reading room looking onto the garden. The living room with its fireplace, is perfect to enjoy with friends and has a sofa bed. Each of the two bedrooms have a double bed (140cm). One of these bedrooms has a lofted-bunk-bed. The all granite bath-room, has a spacious shower. The kitchen has a pleasant dining area to share moments at the table and where to cook.
In an only effort to stimulate the senses, this country garden was created to breath in the aroma of ancient roses and aromatic plants. The garden connects with the main façade of the house via a natural source of constant renewal, which is the layer of water reflected from the pool/tank. On the north side of the house you will find a bucolic resting area with pergolas, a spring water fountain and various spots with tables for outdoor meals.
The area offers a great variety of activities, including visits to sights such as the Yuste Monastery. where emperor Charles V spent the last years of his life, the Parador-castle of Jarandilla de la Vera, and the towns of Trujillo and Cáceres, with their conquistador palaces. There are also excellent hiking and biking routes, horseback riding stables, kayaking on the Tietar river, and golf in nearby Candeleda, or at the 18 hole golf course in Talayuela that was designed by Severino Ballesteros.
